Agecroft Colliery was on the Manchester Coalfield in the Agecroft district of Pendlebury. The mine had two periods of production from 1844 to 1932 and from the late 1950s to 1991.
This is an example of the Museums collection of mining art which contains many significant artists of the genre including Roger Hampson, Theodore Major and Josef Herman.
