Armitage Door Plate
George Faulkner Armitage
1880 - 1900
Ornate steel door plate with a brass handle in the shape of a furled leaf. Designed by George Faulkner Armitage.
The door plate is one of many metal fixtures and fitting created by Armitage at Bramall Hall. They were part of an extensive Victorian refurbishment of the hall initiated by the then resident, Charles Nevill.
Armitage was heavily influenced by the Arts and Crafts Movement. The fluid organic motif of this door plate is typical of Armitage’s elegant style.
