Benin Drum

1897

A ‘tom-tom’ drum.

The drum are made from wood, hide and fabric.

These drums were traditionally used in ceremonies.

They were acquired in around 1897 by Mr Dalton Jnr, near Lagos in Nigeria, West Africa and were later donated to Bolton Museum by his family in 1906.
