John Randall Bratby
This painting was painted by the artist John Randall Bratby in around 1958.
Bratby was a British writer and a versatile artist. He painted various scenes of rather drab domestic life which included portraits, still lifes, figure compositions, landscapes, and flower pieces, and also designed film sets. He is probably best known for this work, although after the 1950s his work became lighter in style.
It was purchased with the assistance of the Victoria and Albert Museum Purchase Grant Fund in 1991.
