Crystal Radio (Cat’s Whiskers)

1925

The Crystal Radio was an early and very simple form of radio receiver, needing no other power source than that received from radio waves through a wire antenna.

Made by the Brownie Wireless Co. Ltd. of Great Britain and available for purchase from September 1925, this ebonite-cased radio was cheaper than its wooden counterparts. The headphones that accompany this radio are a set of Brandes superior matched tone headphones, circa 1920s/1930s.
