Doll

circa 1968

This is a Sasha doll of a little boy. He has blonde hair and wears a red terry cloth robe and slippers. Made primarily of plastic, his model number is ‘Gregor Pyjamas 5.103’.

The doll was made by Frido Plastics Ltd of Stockport, under license from Sasha Morgenthaller of Switzerland. The company was based at Victor Works on Houldsworth Square, Reddish, Stockport.

‘Gregor’ came into the museum collection straight off the production line when he was donated by Frido Plastics in the 1960s.

Sasha dolls remain highly collectable today. They are particularly prized because of their hand painted faces and soft expressions.
