Ferranti Stained Glass Window

In 1896 Sebastian Ziani de Ferranti chose to build his new factory in Hollinwood, near Oldham, Greater Manchester. To begin with Ferranti Ltd were makers of electrical equipment such as transformers and electricity meters.

This pioneering firm was also involved with the radio industry from an early stage – first producing valves for other makers and later producing entire radios.

This leaded window was produced for an early radio dealership in Blackpool. Spelt out in opaque white sections are the words “Ferranti Radio Transformers”.
