Mounted bird in glass dome, found in Woodhouses near Oldham. 

In 1865 this was an unusual northern location for this bird. This species is now regularly seen in the most southern parts of England.

This specimen is mentioned in various publications including: ‘The Birds of Lancashire’,  p158 (1953) by Oakes; ‘Birds of the Oldham District’ p10  Fred J. Stubbs  and ‘Zoologist’ 1865 by  CW Devis.
