1670 - 1680
Delft pottery from Lambeth. Decorated in polychrome with floral designs.
A fine example of a seventeenth century posset pot with cover.
Posset was a drink or soup taken as a remedy for colds and other minor ailments.
It was made from hot milk curdled with wine or ale. Spices were also added such as ginger or cinnamon. The drink was sucked through the spout although it could be spooned out if thickened with breadcrumbs.
