Radio Licence

1939

1922 saw the beginnings of national radio broadcasting and the formation of the BBC. An annual licence fee of 10 shillings was introduced in November 1923 under the Wireless Telegraphy Act to cover radio sets. The licences were initially issued and administered by the General Post Office.
