Rochdale Halfpenny Token

1791

Rochdale halfpenny token made of copper with an image of a seated weaver working at a loom on one side and a hanging fleece on the other.  ‘Payable at the Warehouse of John Kershaw’ is inscribed on the edge of the token.

Tokens such as this were produced from 1787-1797 when there was a shortage of regal copper coinage.
