Tangye Engine

late 19th Century

Medium sized stationary steam engine made by Tangye Ltd of Birmingham. Possibly used at Naylor & Co Abrasives of Woodley, Stockport. Fully restored and painted red and green.

The engine is a fine example of the type used to drive steam powered lathes and block copying machines in the local hatting industry.

The engine has been converted to run on electricity and is still used for public demonstrations at Hat Works.
